Isaac Harnois and Marguerite Blaise: Pioneers of New France
This document details the genealogy of Isaac Harnois, a soldier and settler, and his wife, Marguerite Blaise, one of the Filles du Roi, who were instrumental in the settlement of the Quebec region of New France.
Isaac Harnois (c. 1641 â 1703)
Isaac Harnois was born around 1641 in Yvetot, Normandie, France, the son of Abraham Harnois and Marie Adrien. He immigrated to New France and served as a soldier in the La Fouille company. Isaac settled in the Quebec region and died on March 22, 1703, in Sainte-Foy, Quebec, Canada.
Marguerite Blaise (1653 â 1726)
Marguerite Blaise was born on April 29, 1653, in Nantes, Bretagne, France, to Jean Blaise and Mathurine Malescot. She traveled to New France as a Fille du Roi (Daughter of the King), a program sponsored by King Louis XIV to encourage immigration, marriage, and population growth in the colony .
Before her marriage to Isaac, Marguerite was briefly married to Jean Pacquier (Paquet), who lived in the Quebec area but died shortly after their union.
Marguerite died on June 15, 1726, in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Quebec, Canada.

Marriage and Children
Isaac Harnois and Marguerite Blaise were married on January 18, 1670, in Sillery, Quebec. Their marriage contract was signed the same day and is preserved in the records of Notary Pierre Duquet.
